GENERAL INTRODUCTION

Prof. Tu Trung Chan is an international expert in applied physics, quantum optics, semiconductor materials, and microelectronics technology. With over 40 years of experience in research, teaching, and technology development in the United States, Taiwan, China, and Vietnam, he has participated in numerous pioneering research programs in nanomaterials, optoelectronic devices, laser technology, semiconductors, and advanced chip fabrication. He currently serves as Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Asia Institute of Advanced Technology (AIAT).
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND LEADERSHIP POSITIONS
- Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of the Scientific Council, Asia Institute of Advanced Technology (AIAT), Hanoi (2025 – present).
- Member, Scientific Council of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (2009 – 2014).
- Founder and Senior Advisor, Nano Laboratory, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (2004 – 2014).
- Visiting Professor, Department of Materials Science, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (2004 – 2014).
- Founder, Chairman and CEO, Nano Photonic Technology (NAPOTEC), operating in optoelectronic technology and advanced materials (2004 – 2010).
- Founder and operator of high-tech enterprises in the United States and China in the fields of laser, semiconductor, and optoelectronic technology, including Semco Laser Technology (USA) and Semco ZhongShan Laser Technology (China). - Professor of Physics, Pasadena City College, California, USA (1989 – 1994).
Senior Member of Technical Staff, Quantum Electronics Research Division, TRW Inc., USA (1982 – 1994).

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS

- Over 40 years of research and technology development experience in nanomaterials, quantum optics, semiconductors,optoelectronic sensors, and laser technology.
- Published 37 scientific papers in prestigious international journals such as Applied Physics, Applied Physics Letters, Quantum Electronics, Photonics Letters, Electronics Letters, and Journal of Crystal Growth.
- Holds a U.S. patent for semiconductor thin-film fabrication technology (Patent US No. 5,573,717) and has contributed to the development of numerous applied technologies in energy, optoelectronics, and microelectronics.
- Pioneered research in strategic technologies such as quantum optical chips, DUV/EUV lithography, SiC/GaN materials, graphene composites, biosensors, advanced chip packaging technology, and materials for space communications.
- Actively contributed to the development of Vietnam's science, technology, and innovation ecosystem through research, education, technology transfer, and strategic advisory activities.
