IGNITE Institute Launch Ceremony: The Beginning of a New Era for Vietnamese Intelligence

On August 25, 2025, in Hanoi, the Institute of Technology and Education for New Generative Intelligence (IGNITE) was officially launched, marking a significant milestone in Vietnam's science, technology, and education development strategy. With a vision to unlock Vietnamese intelligence, IGNITE aims to build an innovation ecosystem where technology, knowledge, and people converge to drive sustainable development in the digital era. Vision, Mission, and Core Values 

As artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and breakthrough technologies reshape the global future, cultivating endogenous capacity in science, technology, and education is no longer merely a necessity but has become an urgent national imperative.

In alignment with Resolution 57 of the Politburo issued in late 2024, which affirmed that science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation constitute the nation's strategic breakthrough in the new era. Embracing this spirit, the IGNITE Institute has pioneered the model of a private – autonomous – independent research institute with a grand aspiration: to elevate Vietnamese intelligence to the global stage. The Institute bears the pioneering mission of developing “generative intelligence” – a form of intelligence capable of self-creating knowledge, technology, and development models derived from the community's own cultural, scientific, and intellectual internal strength.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan – General Director of NKG New Knowledge Joint Stock Company, Deputy Director – Secretary General of the IGNITE Institute shared: In December 2024, when the Politburo's Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation was issued, it served as a catalyst to accelerate the establishment of the IGNITE Institute.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Director – Secretary General of the IGNITE Institute, shares the core spirit behind the establishment of the IGNITE Institute.

From its very inception, the IGNITE Institute has defined its overarching goal: “Fostering action-oriented innovative thinking, thinking big without shying away from small tasks, and reviving the spirit of the 'nation-building' era” serving as the foundation for all research, training, and international cooperation activities, with a strong development orientation:

• Vision: To become a leading Think Tank on theories, science and technology strategies, and solutions for building a future society based on Technology and Education.
• Mission: To develop new and advanced thinking methodologies, preparing for the era of Global Awakening and the breakthrough development of Vietnam.
• Core Values: Culture of Innovation – Mindful Individuals – Soft Power.
• Objectives: 

1. Elevate awareness of humanity's mission.
2. Foster creative thinking and the generation of new knowledge utilizing AI.
3. Cultivate mindful individuals and a culture of innovation.
4. Develop new theories regarding the future society.  

• Key Activities: Research, development, architectural modeling, testing, forecasting, strategic consulting, program and project development, international cooperation, training and knowledge transfer, organizing seminars and conferences, curriculum development, and publications.

2. - Liberal education models and methods, science and technology strategies, culture of innovation, soft power, human potential, spiritual culture, mindfulness, and the structure of consciousness.

4. Exploration of liberal education methods, strategies for science and technology, innovation culture, soft power, human potential, spiritual culture, awakening, and the structure of consciousness.
5. - Science and technology strategy, innovation, digital transformation, AI, data, living space, soft power, and international security.
6. Research and application of advanced technologies — especially AI, biotechnology, quantum science, automation, and intelligent semiconductor electronics.

Key Research and Training Directions

The Institute's aspiration and guiding principle is to identify strategic solutions that help firmly position Vietnam on the global technology map and elevate Vietnamese intelligence to the world stage. Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ai Viet – a renowned theoretical physicist, co-founder, and Director of the Institute – shared a profound vision: “When we are in a cycle of instability, we must all determine early on: What is Vietnam's strategy?”

In the near future, the IGNITE Institute will deploy five operational pillars: research on new theories, advanced training, strategic consulting, international cooperation, and fostering an innovation ecosystem applying AI, quantum technology, biotechnology, and semiconductors.

Led by a Scientific Council bringing together leading intellectuals from Vietnam and abroad, the IGNITE Institute serves as a launchpad and incubator for a new generation of talent. They will become the leaders driving Vietnam's technological transformation, ready to face and address future challenges while spreading positive values to the community.
