Continuing its series of fact-finding activities on the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ\/TW and Plan No. 01-KH\/BC\u0110TW, on 14 July 2026, a survey delegation led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ai Viet \u2013 Director of the IGNITE Institute, acting as Chief Advisor \u2013 paid a working visit to Vietnam National Coal \u2013 Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin \u2013 TKV). The delegation was received and worked with by the leadership of the Group, together with representatives from a number of specialized departments and member units <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As one of the pillars of Vietnam's national energy and mining sector, Vinacomin \u2013 TKV is facing strong pressure for transformation \u2013 shifting from traditional extraction models toward smart mining, with the application of digital technologies, automation, and greener solutions across the entire value chain. This is not only an internal requirement stemming from the Group's own production and business activities, but also an inevitable demand for Vietnam's coal and mineral sector to adapt to the global energy transition, sustainable development trends, and the country's international commitments on emissions reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, representatives of the Group shared initial results, approaches, and also the \"difficult problems\" that Vinacomin \u2013 TKV is having to solve in the process of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ\/TW and Plan No. 01-KH\/BC\u0110TW \u2013 from investment in research and the renewal of extraction technologies, to digital transformation in corporate governance and the development of high-quality human resources for the sector. In addition, Vinacomin \u2013 TKV also shared its efforts in applying automation and remote control at mining sites, developing data-based safety monitoring and early-warning systems, as well as its long-term orientation for investment in science, technology, and innovation, moving toward a \"smart mine\" and digital enterprise model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two sides also engaged in candid discussions on the specific advantages and difficulties of a group operating in a field with distinctive characteristics in terms of geology, environment, and occupational safety. The discussions focused on mechanisms and policies to encourage research and development activities within enterprises; cooperation between the Group and domestic and international research institutes and universities; investment mechanisms for large-scale science and technology and digital transformation projects; as well as the challenges related to high-quality human resources associated with the sector's specific characteristics. On that basis, the two sides proposed several directions to ensure the substantive implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ\/TW in a manner aligned with the sector's characteristics and the actual conditions of Vinacomin \u2013 TKV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the working session, the survey delegation gained further valuable information and insights from a state-owned economic group with a long-standing history and an important role in ensuring national energy security. The contributions from Vinacomin \u2013 TKV serve as an important source of information, supporting research, assessment, and the formulation of recommendations to promote science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in the time ahead \u2013 particularly solutions associated with the specific characteristics of state-owned enterprises operating in heavy industry and mining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concluding the session, the two sides agreed to maintain regular channels of information exchange and to cooperate closely in research activities and policy advisory work in the time ahead, jointly working toward the shared goal of making science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation a genuine strategic breakthrough for the rapid and sustainable development of the country.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
